Belonging to the rose ketone family, this variant leans towards a fruity, plum-like smell, with floral rosy effects. Within its fruity facet, hints of apple may also be present.

It gives a highly distinctive character to any fragrance. While particularly relevant in rose compositions, it also lends an intriguing effect to floral, woody, and fruity perfumes. Additionally, this ingredient can be delicately incorporated into tobacco accords in small quantities.

In 1965, dsm-firmenich’s team analyzed the Bulgarian rose essence, concluding in the discovery of not only the first rose ketones but how to synthetize them. Their work is still widely recognized as a key discovery process for our industry.
