MIMOSA IG GRASSE ABS is certified with the Geographic Indication Absolue Pays de Grasse, approved by France's National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI).
This label guarantees the authenticity and savoir-faire of the historic Grass area for the cultivation of perfume plants that spreads across the Alpes Maritimes, the Var and the Alpes de Haute Provence.
Extracted part: branches and flowers.
450 Kg app. to produce 1 Kg of absolute.
200-250 Kg app. harvested per day per person.
Mimosa has been cultivated in many regions of the world, originally for its bark. France and Morocco are today the main producing countries of this highly fragrant species.
France
French mimosa is one of the most exceptional flowers still cultivated in France for Perfumery today.
The wild harvest of the young branches are handpicked in February when blooming begins within a very localized area: the Tanneron hills. Mimosa needs a perfect balance between a cold winter and little water to bloom in the best conditions. dsm-firmenich’s direct production, relying on fresh flowers supply, enables the most beautiful qualities of Mimosa.
The extremities of the plant are cut and processed immediately in dsm-firmenich's Tourrettes’ factory (South of France) for extraction. The difficult condition of the harvest, on wild lands with uneasy access, makes it a unique cultivation for the region.
