A primary extraction with a volatile solvent on fresh or dry biomass yields to a Concrete or Resinoid.

Cocoa mass is produced from cocoa beans, which are deshelled and broken into cocoa nibs (the kernels). These kernels are alkalized (except for the natural cocoa powder), roasted and ground into fine cocoa mass. Approximately 60% of the world’s cocoa production is in Africa (Ivory Coast and Ghana), where small farms and cooperatives host their networks.
