Embracing Nature starts in our natural supply chain and we have been introducing positive practices with our most trusted suppliers for many years.
Sourcing responsibly has always been a critical element for all Firmenich buyers. In the past five years, we have created specialized programs to strengthen our responsible sourcing commitment, including for our natural ingredients suppliers.
We are proud of our portfolio of materials from over 430 plants and animal species.

Action towards deforestation free
At Firmenich, we work continuously to ensure that our supply chain protects valuable forest resources against the threat of deforestation.
We currently focus on palm oil and palm oil derivatives, e.g. ensuring 99.5% of direct palm oil is RSPO certified.
We are also advancing our collaboration with our suppliers of terpenes derived from the paper industry, to ensure that these by-products are covered by FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) feedstock certifications, which ensure the sustainable management of the forests.

"Projects at source” are designed to leverage our long-term commercial relationships and sustainability expertise by empowering our suppliers in the field. A new cycle of strengthened “projects at source” was launched in FY2022.
