2021
A Revolution in Natural Extractions
Firmenich unveils Firgood® collection, a brand new range of pure, 100% natural extracts obtained by a revolutionary, sustainable proprietary extraction technology. This patented process, pioneered by Firmenich, enables the processing of biomass never previously used in the industry for natural ingredients. The very first pear Firgood®, ginger Firgood® and green bell pepper Firgood® are part of the Firmenich creative Perfumery palette.
1995-1998
Catalysis and supercritical CO2 extraction
Firmenich pioneered chemical catalysis with the launch of Paradisone® and launched the very first supercritical CO2 extract, a Pink Pepper, for use in perfumery. Our breakthroughs coincided with Anastas and Warner’s definition of the 12 Green chemistry principles.
2010
Green Gate strategy and Naturals innovation
Two unique milestones set us apart: our Green Gate strategy, which ensures that all new molecules we discover or create will now be degradable, and our Naturals Center of Expertise in Grasse, France. Both demonstrate our commitment to protect and respect nature.
2014
Industry-first biotechnology ingredient
Firmenich unveiled Clearwood® - the first biotechnology ingredient available to our industry. It is 100% natural, 100% renewable, biodegradable and the start of an innovative sequence.
2020
Three steps ahead in renewability and natural extraction
Two acquisitions moved us forward. DRT widened our portfolio of renewable ingredients. Evonik CO2 unit added a new dimension to our supercritical fluid extraction capabilities. A third step came with EcoIngredient Compass™ – a tool highlighting the intrinsic green characteristics of our iconic molecules with full transparency.
