An extremely powerful cedarwood note, in which grapefruit aspects bring a sparkling effect (due to its Nootkatene and Nootkatone content).
Not as camphoraceous and smoky as a cedarwood but stronger, longer-lasting and very linear.
By exploring the wild powerful impact of this multifaceted cedarwood treasure, perfumers will unlock new creative potential.
CEDARWOOD ALASKA EO is a highly differentiating product as it offers a new olfactive signature, a unique way to render an unforgettable perfumery experience in formulation.
Cedar Alaska Canada is a byproduct of sawdust that has been sustainably produced by the forest industry. Starting from the Pacific Rainforest, the younger trees (between 50 and 75 years) are cut using sustainable forestry practices.
In this process of turning logs into lumber, a tremendous amount of sawdust is produced. In fact, as much as 30% of a tree can end up as sawdust. Our partners take the sawdust and processes it at their site. The result is a collection of unique, sustainably sourced essential oils.
Then they return the "spent sawdust" to the mills. The sawmills use giant "tippers" to dump the transported sawdust into collection piles, and it is then sent to pulp and paper mills on huge barges where it is used as a source of clean, renewable energy. This then completes the process.
Obtained by distillation of the biomass with water, or steam.
The essential oil is physically separated from the aqueous phase by decantation.
Extracted part: twigs.
dsm-firmenich CEDARWOOD ALASKA EO is considered as one of the most innovative natural ingredients developed and introduced since PINK PEPPER.
Alaska cedarwood, originating from the Nootka cypress, is native to the northwestern region of Canada and Alaska. The tree grows up to 160 feet (50 meters) and is easily recognized by its drooping branchlets. The wood has a waxy texture and a distinctive resinous smell. The two of the main components of its oil, nootkatene and nootkatone (15%) have distinctive grapefruit peel scents. The essential oil of this tree also has remarkable insect repellent properties and this contributes to the very slow decline in the integrity of the wood, allowing
dead trees to remain standing for up to a century providing a profound impact on the ecology of their forests.
Canada
This ingredient is sourced from the western most region of Canada, specifically from the province of British Columbia. Millions of tons of trees are cut every year. It’s a major timber species for the British Columbia forest industry, which is widely recognized as one of the most sustainable forest industries of the world. Annual estimated oil volume: 2,000kg
